How many do you identify with?
Signs of ADHD in adults are not the same for every individual, and can be characteristic of either inattentive or hyperactive ADHD. While people with ADHD share many of the same traits, everyone's experience is unique.

What is included in a private ADHD assessment?
Here is what you will receive when you book a private ADHD assessment with us:
• An ADHD assessment with one of our registered clinicians, completed online, from the comfort of your own home
• A full written report - and your clinician will talk you through your results
• Post assessment support, with access to videos and resources you may find useful following a diagnosis
• The option to explore whether medication could be suitable to you, providing this has been recommended by your clinician (please note this is an additional service and will be charged separately)
How quickly could I be booked in for assessment?
The typical wait for private ADHD assessments is two to three weeks, providing you have completed all your pre-assessment forms. As soon as we have all the required information we will go ahead and agree potential dates for online assessment.
What do I need to access my appointment?
Your assessment takes place online, over video. You will need:
• A private space where you will not be interrupted
• A reliable internet connection
• A laptop or computer with a working webcam, or a tablet of at least 10 inches you can prop up hands-free
• To be comfortable having your camera on throughout
A mobile phone is not suitable for this assessment, this is because your clinician needs to see enough of your face and upper body, and a phone screen doesn’t allow for that.
Please check your set-up before the day. Having the right set-up is your responsibility, and if your appointment cannot go ahead or be completed without it, that counts as a missed appointment. If that happens, tell us as soon as you can - we look at each case individually.
When will I know my result, and when will I receive my report?
We aim to give you an outcome on the day of your assessment and in most cases, this is possible. Occasionally your clinician may need a little more time to look at something in greater detail, or to talk it through with colleagues. If that happens, they will discuss this with you on the day and let you know what to expect next. You will then receive your full written report within two weeks.
What happens if I want to explore medication?
If you’re diagnosed with ADHD following a private assessment with ProblemShared and you would like to explore medication, your clinician will discuss your options with you and potential suitability.
Our private medication service opens on 1 November. Medication is not included within this cost of the ADHD assessment, and you will pay separately for this service. If you decide to go ahead and explore if medication could be right for you, we will discuss the costs with you and get in touch to arrange your first appointment.
Our medication service is available to clients who have received their ADHD assessment with us using our private service. If you already have an ADHD diagnosis from another provider, we cannot offer you medication as a standalone service currently. If that changes, we will share any updates on our website.
I’m on the NHS Right to Choose waitlist. Can I pay for a private assessment?
Yes, as long as you haven’t already had an assessment with us. That applies whether you came to us through Right to Choose or through another partner.
Paying privately will not change your place on the Right to Choose waitlist. The two are separate. Once you have received your private ADHD assessment with us, we will close the ADHD part of your Right to Choose referral, as you will no longer need it. Any other referrals are not affected - for example, if you are waiting for an autism assessment.
One thing to know: when the service opens, you will need to sign up for a new account. Please use a different email address to the one on your Right to Choose account. Once you have provided us with your details and paid, our team can transfer any information you have already uploaded across to your new account.
What happens if I’m not diagnosed with ADHD?
Your clinician will talk through your results, what they mean for you, and any next steps that might help. Not everyone who comes to us for an assessment is diagnosed with ADHD. A clear answer either way can still be useful.
Is this service only for adults?
We are currently only offering private ADHD assessments for adults aged 18 and over. However, we do assess children and young people from the age of seven, through other routes - including the NHS Right to Choose scheme. We hope to offer private assessments for children and young people in future, and we will share any updates on our website.
