Right to Choose (England)
Our service offers assessments and support for people with a range of needs. While we aim to help as many individuals as possible, there may be times when another service is better suited to your situation. If so, your primary care provider can help guide you to the right support.
Some technical, clinical, or other factors may make our service unsuitable for you.
For example, accessibility might be an issue if we can't meet you online because you don’t have a stable internet connection or don't have one that you can access from somewhere private. In other cases, the reason may be circumstantial - for instance, if you are in the armed forces, you will already have access to a suitable specialist service.
There is also a range of clinical factors that affect suitability. For example, if you have a physical or mental health condition that could impact assessment outcomes, we may not be able to proceed safely or effectively at this time. In some cases, an in-person assessment may be more appropriate. For example, children under the age of seven often benefit from a play-based, face-to-face approach.
Suitability may evolve over time, and we’ll regularly review it to ensure that we are still the best fit for you.
To help ensure you receive the most appropriate care, please review the list of criteria below to confirm if any of these make us unsuitable for your needs. (See helpful links in the FAQs to guide you).
Our service is not suitable if the any of the following statements currently apply to you, or to a child on whose behalf you may be seeking an assessment:
