Personal Statement

Attending therapy can be a scary experience for people, because you are expected to talk about your intricate difficulties to a stranger; sometimes with fear of how they will be perceived amongst many concerns. My initial aim is to help attend to these concerns and help people to feel comfortable in our sessions. I have worked with clients using cognitive behaviour therapy approach for about 13 years; and in the last 10 years have been consistently using a model of approaching my clients' difficulties in four stages. The first stage is the commitment to help my clients understand their unique emotional pattern and understand how their minds work with use of various awareness strategies. The second stage is the habit-changing stage which involves identification of strategies to help make behaviour and thinking changes. The third stage is the consolidation stage which involves making the new mental and behavioural habits next to normal. Lastly, the final stage is helping to create opportunity for relapse prevention, and for my clients to work with themselves after therapy has ended.
