Special interest areas

My work is trauma-informed, and for many years I have worked with people who have experienced sexual abuse or rape at any time in their lives. I have particular experience in working with Complex PTSD, childhood attachment issues and the impact of all types of abuse. I have additional training in working with neurodivergent clients, and I have supported several clients with ADHD and autism (some with a diagnosis, and some who are questioning or awaiting diagnosis). Much of this work has been around processing the traumatic impact of growing up neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. In addition, I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, loss and disordered eating..

Personal Statement

My work is integrative, which means that I draw on lots of different ideas and theories to work with you in the way that is right for you. I work in a trauma-informed way, because so many difficulties have their roots in trauma of one kind or another. So, I will help you to understand why you might be struggling, and help you to gain more control over unhelpful behaviour patterns that have been troubling you. I provide a confidential, non-judgmental space where we can think together about the past, your present difficulties, and a way forward into the future. When we first meet, we will talk about where you would like to focus our work, and what your reasons are for seeking help right now. We will regularly review how things are going, and hopefully build a trusting relationship where you feel safe to be honest about uncomfortable topics. Depending on how many sessions we have, we will pace the work to keep it manageable for you, and hopefully leave you feeling more able to understand yourself and improve your quality of everyday life.
