Personal Statement

I use ways of working that are evidence based in terms of what works depending on the client's issues.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps people change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that are maintaining their issues, such as anxiety, phobias and depression.

Schema Therapy helps people understand long-term patterns learnt in childhood, so they can learn to better meet their emotional needs.

Compassion Focused Therapy helps people overcome shame, excessive self criticism and low self-esteem.

A Solution Focus permeates the way I work by motivating clients to work towards positive goals, rather than getting lost in problems.

These methods empower clients to make positive changes, by giving them the tools and skills to overcome problems, and maintain their gains in the future. I work in a collaborative way with clients where together we are making sense of why they are stuck in the present and how we achieve their goals.
