Personal Statement

I can provide a space of safety, warmth, empathy and acceptance where you can completely be yourself, be truly heard and talk through your difficulties without fear of judgement. I work with whatever you wish to bring to therapy: this may be struggles with anxiety or depression, difficulties with relationships, work, life changes or bereavement. It may be that you are feeling stuck or feel that something is not quite working within your life currently.  My aim is to help you to recognise and use your inner strengths, increase your self awareness and work alongside you, helping you gain clarity, understanding and a way forward.

I work holistically looking at different aspects of your life and am an integrative counsellor meaning I tailor the counselling to suit you.  I use techniques from different therapies including Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural, Solution-Focused Therapies, Gestalt, Transpersonal, and Mindfulness. I will begin my work with you by asking you questions about your background, health and difficulties. We will then agree a way of working together and explore how to structure the work. As you explore your difficulties, I will ask questions to gain a greater understanding and explore possible ways forward with you.

Counsellors don't advise but I can offer evidence-based strategies if there are things you are struggling with. Through counselling, you will uncover the answers and the way forward which are within you.

I have an extensive personal and professional knowledge of autistic spectrum condition and experience of counselling clients with autism. I also have knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis and experience of counselling those living with MS. My counselling experience includes MIND and working within Primary Care within a GP surgery. I have vast experience of counselling and supporting those impacted by social, economic and environmental factors.
