Special interest areas
I have been counselling for a little over 10 years. During this time, I have volunteered with a charity that specialises in working with survivors/victims of sexual violence. I have extensive experience in working in this area. I have provided counselling for survivors/victim both pre and post-trial. My counselling experience also covers (but not limited to) working with anxiety, anger issues, depression, stress, bullying, illness, low in confidence, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and couples/relationship issues..
The first session gives you the opportunity to meet me and talk about what has brought you to counselling. We can discuss how best to work together, exploring what you want to achieve and looking at what your expectations are of counselling. Counselling provides you a space where you can talk, explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Counselling can help you start to take small steps to be able to make positive changes in your life. I offer a warm, safe, non-judgemental space where together we can explore and reflect on the issues/difficulties you may be experiencing. Being able to develop a therapeutic relationship is, I believe the most important part of the counselling relationship, you need to feel safe and secure with your counsellor.
