Personal Statement

I am a cognitive behavioural therapist.  CBT places emphasis on the role that thoughts play in regard to emotions and behaviours, stressing that altering your thoughts can have a profound effects on the young person.

I create individualised treatment plans designed to help people learn new problem solving skills while they increase their confidence and self-esteem.  My goal as a therapist is to teach you skills so you are more equipped to effectively manage emotional distress and reduce problematic behaviours.  My areas of interest and expertise include but are not limited to treating children and adolescents: parents interventions for parents of children with elevated anxiety, OCD and eating disorders.

I approach therapy in a collaborative manner, using therapeutic interventions supported by research and tailored to the unique needs and strengths of each client.  I have been specifically trained to work with adolescents and young people but work with people of all ages.
