Special interest areas

My specialisms are working with Trauma, abuse and PTSD. Often, in these areas struggles might not show up at first with these labels, it may be a feeling that things are "just not right" or painful memories seem to keep surfacing from the past, or just having a "stuck" feeling that things are just not right and stopping you living a healthy and fulfilled life. Working with the person centred approach and integrating Emotion Focused Therapy which allows us to work more with the emotions can help clients understand their experience and work through issues in a way that they feel comfortable with, which is essential when working with trauma.

Personal Statement

Person Centred Therapy involves talking about life events, feelings emotions relationships and patterns of behaviour (problems such as anxiety, health anxiety, relationship issues, feeling low, depression or trauma and stress). I will listen, encourage, empathise and challenge to help you see issues more clearly or in a different way which facilitates growth and change.

My aim is to ensure when you take that step into counselling, which can be extremely difficult, that you are met with warmth, genuineness, and compassion. I believe it is essential that you find a counsellor that is right for you, so you feel comfortable to open up and talk about the things that are around for you. I offer (and recommend) a consultation session to have an initial chat together to see how I work and if this is a match for you.
