Personal Statement
Person-centred therapy puts the client at the centre of the process. I’m not the expert on you - you are. My role as a therapist is to listen carefully, non-judgmentally and with complete respect and to respond sensitively and empathically to what you tell me.
In our first session we'll talk about what has brought you to counselling and how we can work together. I may need to know a few things about you but I try to limit the number of questions I ask and give you space to tell me what you want me to know about your life. You are always in control. I’m there to go along with you on your journey. I’m an active listener and although I’m not there to offer advice, I try to help you to consider different options. Hopefully we will build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect.
